I’m a great admirer of everything Aplayfulday is setting out to achieve in terms of stimulating creativity this year. Creativity is good. The way that this resonates for me is that I’m finally taking the plunge this year and creating an actual, real-life, book of designs.

Purlescence: shop profile

purlescence-logo The kids go back to school today, so it’s a quick post for my first day back at work but happily another yarn shop profile!

Purlescence is rather a special kind of yarn shop. While primarily online, Purlescence is often found at various yarn shows and festivals throughout the UK where they meet many of their customers face to face. If you’re in the Oxfordshire area, you can also make an appointment to pop in, or plan to attend one of their workshops or quarterly Open Days where there are often special guests or offers. Having been both a workshop attendee, and a guest designer at a recent Open Day, I can vouch for this! It’s nice way to experience their friendly service in person, and also touch and pet their glorious yarns.

Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock: yarn review

Louise is on Easter holidays with her kids at the moment so this is Allison stepping in to introduce today’s yarn review. 

Last year Louise was blown away by a gorgeous version of Knit Night by Clare Devine of Yarn and Pointy Sticks (who hosted yesterday’s stop on the Palette blog tour!). Clare had knit it in Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock – a yarn that Louise wasn’t familiar with but that gave amazing results!

Clare also mentioned that the yarn was really lovely to work with (which gave Louise a good excuse to try it out knitting up a sample of Painted) so I thought she’d be the perfect person to ask to review the yarn. Over to you Clare!
