Team Shetland – thank you ALL for such a special day.
We had an absolute blast on Saturday, making our way around the Great London Yarn Crawl. Team Shetland visited Wild and Woolly, Knit with Attitude, Fringe, and The Village Haberdashery. We even managed to win the crawl quiz, though that was due to efforts of my team-mates. We’re already planning a Team Shetland reunion later this year.
Remember my preview blog? Here are the photos from the day. Enabling alert!

How to avoid Summer pastels: Kalinka linen yarn
The usual yarn shopping advice is to go for colours you know you love. Yes, co-ordinate your yarn to your coffee mug.
Even paying was dangerous – these beauties were at the till.
My haul – undyed BFL from West Yorkshire Spinners, 3 skeins of Kalinka linen and some fun badges.
Knit with Attitude
Eye-catching Wool and the Gang
Pretty Alpaca Silk (left) and Milk yarn (right)
We all crammed in the back room and grabbed a few minutes knitting-time.
I chose some lovely craft-adjacent things. There were all kinds of crafty and hand-made temptation.
A lovely long wall of yarn to admire and pet.
MillaMia’s new Aran is in the house!
Christmas shopping for knitting friends.
Hard to pick favourites from the glorious button selection.
Finished my knitting for Refuge over a hasty cup of tea before running for the bus, clutching my shopping.
The Village Haberdashery
I was too busy agonising over the brilliantly edited yarn selection to take enough photos. You could just shut your eyes and grab a skein and it would be beautiful. The fabric selection is fabulous too, but I was busy ogling the yarn. Sorry, readers, I was too busy drooling…you’ll just have to go there too!
Who bought all the teal yarn? Oh yes, that would be me!
We won the yarn/pub quiz – thanks Pom Pom for the shopping bag and yarnie treats. Yes, I brought my spindle to the pub, and chose a little fibre from our winners’ pile of yarn.
Whilst the yarn is important, it’s the people who made the day. Thank you to the organisers, Alli & Rachel. Thank you to the lovely shop owners for generous discounts, special offers and warm hospitality. I would recommend all our tour’s shops. Thank you to Pom Pom for the quiz. Thank you to everyone who donated the raffle prizes – they were amazing. Thank you Refuge, the crawl’s charity, for doing the amazing work that you do. And thank you Team Shetland!
Were you on the crawl? What were your highlights?
Next up…yes, I’ve two new patterns out later today!
