Trios of Summer Colour
I promised some ideas for colour combinations for a 3-colour Stay Awhile Shawl (see previous post), and here they are. I used Blue Sky Alpacas Skinny Cotton colours because I just love this palette. There are so many gorgeous colours, waiting to be combined! Continue reading
Inspiration Knits visits The Knitting Hut
Thank you to Sue Stratford at The Knitting Hut for welcoming me to her wonderful yarn store for a trunk show on Saturday. The new Whimzy Sokkusu O colours I brought with me went down a storm, as did the Silkie Merino.
Sue selflessly chose some gorgeous Sokkusu O before I had even got it unpacked, just so she could get it wound immediately. She wanted to get Stay Awhile on the needles to “show customers”, you understand. Well, that was her story…. Continue reading
Stash-Up
I’ve just been working on the Fyberspates stand at the Knitting and Stitching Show – the UK’s largest knitting show. Obviously there was time for a little personal stash-up too. Alexandra Palace is biiiiiiig, there was a lot of yaaaaaaarn, this post is loooooong. Continue reading
Five ways with Shalimar Yarns
I’m thrilled to announce that Shalimar Yarns are offering special kits to make Another Way.
Shalimar have created five different stripe combinations to work with the pattern, all of them equally gorgeous. Not bought the Another Way pattern yet? They’re throwing it in for free with the kit!
Another Way
Bored with scarves that start at one end and finish at the other, shawls that start at one side and finish at the other? Yes, there’s Another Way. And it’s hot right now on Ravelry.
Completely Unravel-led
24hrs later I think I’m still reeling from the visual assault that was Unravel yesterday. Don’t get me wrong; it was fabulous. I just still can’t quite process it all. Here are my highlights.
Ally Pally Anticipation
I’m so excited about the Knitting and Stitching Show later this week, Thursday to Sunday. This year I’ve got to wait until Saturday until I can go and I’m not sure how I’ll manage to wait that long! I know there are other shows out there, but I live in London so the big stash enhancement event for me is the annual pilgrimage to Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) for what they claim to be “the best textile exhibition in Europe”. What am I looking forward to seeing in amongst all that choice?
Yarn Review & Sneak Preview
I’m so excited to publish two new cowl patterns next week that I need to write about them this weekend before I burst. So, I thought I’d share a review of the yarns I’ve used, complete with tantalising tiny snippets of how they look knitted up – in my new designs.
Sea Shanty
I loved the long Song of Sea cowl so much that I wanted to make a smaller one from some Fyberspates Scrumptious that I had left in my stash. I put the snug pattern in from the start, since I doubt I will be the only one who’d like a snug cowl too.
It’s felt a bit strange knitting one of my own patterns as a “project” but I desperately wanted my own one to wear – it was fun being part of the KAL in my group, especially since I don’t often get the chance to do a KAL.
