Quiet time

The knitting continues, my friends. And with it reflections on which projects to move on to next. It’s been an intentionally quiet time this spring, and I’m truly enjoying it, instead of trying to feel as though I must be constantly rushing to the next thing.

In the meantime the Affinity KAL has been ticking along nicely on the Inspiration Knits board on Ravelry and I wanted to share some of the lovely WIP photos that have been popping up. Continue reading

Affinity KAL with Purlescence

A while ago Sarah from Purlescence and I talked about the possibility of our linking up on a knit-a-long (KAL) using one of the patterns from the Knit Play Colour book. Purlescence have a great group of followers who have keenly participated in their KALs in the past. Since Purlescence have several of the yarns which I used in the book, it looked like it would be fun to do a KAL together.

Colour? Texture? How will you create an affinity for your yarns?

Just a few more…

It’s half-term this week so I feel like I’m rushing even more than usual!

I missed posting this Maltings WIP last week by vivieknits - such a wonderful WARM view when today is so chilly!

I missed posting this Maltings WIP last week by vivieknits – such a wonderful WARM view when today is so chilly!

It was wonderful looking at so many photos of Maltings last week that I almost forgot about the other KAL that has been happening with Inspiration Knits designs – the Knit Play Hearts KAL in our Ravelry group featuring the Heart Deco cowl and Warm Hearted blanket patterns from Knit Play Colour. Cosy Cables KAL – and a prize from LoveKnitting

It’s unfathomable to me that this post finds us at the end of October already. It feels like I’ve been head down on the book for so long that it’s almost a surprise that autumn is well and truly here now that I’ve poked my head back up and resurfaced!

One of the things that has kept me busy this month has been knitting my own Yarn Tamer with the yarnlings that I bought on the Eden Cottage Yarns stand at Yarndale. I’m quite in love with how it’s turned out, but am AMAZED by the wonderful versions I’ve seen as the Yarn Tamer KAL wraps up on the Inspiration Knits Ravelry board. If you haven’t had a chance to see them yet, go take a look. The colour combinations are so beautiful…

As the Yarn Tamer KAL is wrapping up, we’ve already been looking ahead to having a longer KAL for November/December. What better way to welcome winter than with some cosy cables? (Apologies for the alliteration but I’m just so excited about this KAL!) Continue reading

Stay Awhile

Stay Awhile in Mink, Peony and Birch

I promised some ideas for colour combinations for a 3-colour Stay Awhile Shawl (see previous post), and here they are. I used Blue Sky Alpacas Skinny Cotton colours because I just love this palette. There are so many gorgeous colours, waiting to be combined! Continue reading

Stay Awhile

Stay Awhile

Stay Awhile

I was actually trying to make a garter stitch shawl. Luckily (with glorious hindsight) it didn’t work. It went in two different directions. One direction became Knit Night; a garter stitch scarf. The other direction became Stay Awhile; a completely reversible shawl with a curious construction. It’s easy to wear and easy to make. It’s perfect for when you’re going to Stay Awhile and need more than a little Knit Night project. Continue reading
